Disaster Response

When a disaster threatens or strikes, the Red Cross addresses basic needs by providing shelter, food and mental health services. The Red Cross also feeds emergency workers, handles inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area, provides blood and blood products to disaster victims and helps those affected by disasters contact partner organizations for additional services.  All Red Cross disaster services are provided free of charge. They are made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.

If you are trying to locate someone affected by a disaster, call 1-800-RED-CROSS begin_of_the_skype_highlighting            1-800-RED-CROSS      end_of_the_skype_highlighting or go to the Safe and Well web page, click "search" and enter the person's name and pre-disaster phone number OR address. If the person has registered you will be notified of his or her safety.
